SeaRAY leverages Vicor tech to convert wave energy
The extremely lightweight SeaRAY architecture, with its ultra-compact footprint and highly efficient data-conversion capability, required intense focus on the power-conversion subsystem. The Vicor Power Systems (VPS) design team, which specializes in developing customized power systems using advanced Vicor power modules, embraced the ambitious design goals.
Bill Schmitz, President, Northwest Power (a Vicor subsidiary) and Joe Prudell, Director of Oregon Corp Operations, C-Power, participated in a panel discussion on the scalable power design of the SeaRAY using Vicor BCM® fixed-ratio bus converters and PRM™ regulator modules with complex multistage discrete converters to efficiently convert wave energy and provide controlled power.
